Your happy, peaceful place.

Hi and welcome to Pilates Peace Barre!

My name is Lisa and I am the owner of this wonderful little Pilates Studio.

When I was four, I walked into my first dance class.  From that moment on, I was hooked.  I danced my way into college where I graduated with a degree in Theatre and Modern Dance.

After graduation I found myself in NYC pursuing my dream of becoming an actress.  It was not long after moving to the Big Apple, that I discovered this struggling actress could not afford to keep up with her dance classes and pay her rent.

Luckily, I discovered Yoga.  I was hooked just like my first dance experience when I was four.  At twenty-four, my body was ready for this exciting change.  I had been stretching all my life and was so curious to learn how I could stretch, quiet my mind and reduce the stress of living in a big city.  So off to Val Morin, Quebec to spend a month living in a tent, embracing the yogi lifestyle by practicing yoga, participating in Satsang, clean-eating (yes that meant no coffee, meat or wine), and meditating... or at least trying.

I went back to NYC and could not wait to start teaching and being a part of this really awesome community.  Two years later I was invited by one of my employers, New York Sports Clubs, to participate in a Pilates certification program on a full scholarship.  I thought, "sounds cool, but what is that?"  After well over a year of training, I became a fully certified Stott Pilates Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Arc Barrels instructor.  Honestly, it was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but definitely one of the most rewarding.

After working many years as a Yoga & Pilates instructor in NYC for world-renowned establishments such as Goldman Sachs and the Harvard Club, my husband and I decided to move back to Ohio with our daughter and son to be closer to family.  I was a little nervous, not knowing if there would be any great studios where I could work.  Luckily, I met Jen, owner of the Li’l Yoga Shop, and began teaching yoga classes there.

It was great to be teaching again and I loved her studio.  In fact, I began thinking about buying a few reformers and starting to teach Pilates classes there.  But, out of the blue, I received a call from Cleveland Clinic Akron General Wellness to start up their Pilates Reformer Program in Green, Ohio.

And that's just what I did.  I spent the past six exciting years teaching Pilates strength, stretch, cardio jump, yoga and barre classes at the hospital's Wellness Center.

Recently though, my desire to build my very own studio grew to the point where I decided it was time to move beyond the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Center and just do it!

Which brings me to today.

I've found my way back to the Li’l Yoga Shop as I now operate an intimate boutique studio that's literally right next to where Li’l Yoga Shop classes take place.

With small class sizes, I'm able to get to know each of my students, their goals and watch their transformations.  I teach a variety of styles and classes to keep things fresh and challenging.  You'll find that whether you are totally new, de-conditioned or have been practicing for years, you will discover classes perfect for you!

The Reformer is an incredibly versatile piece of equipment and people just love how good it makes them feel.  Working out does not have to kill your body or your spirit.  With the Reformer's springs and pulleys, you can customize each individual exercise to your body's needs and capabilities.

So welcome to Pilates Peace Barre... where your physical, mental and spiritual transformation begins!
